Highlands Ranch Run Series Champion!!!

This year the Highlands Ranch Community Association held its second annual Run Series, which consisted of 7 races (all 5K's except for one 10K on the 4th of July) between March & September. All of the races are in Highlands Ranch, so no race is more than a couple of miles from our house (you can't beat that). This year they decided to not only give awards to the individual race winners, but to the overall winner. To qualify for the overall prize you had to compete in at least 5 of the 7 races. Kyle ran in 6 of the 7 races and won 5 of them - and so, he was crowned the HR Run Series champ!

Kyle ran in almost all of the races last year, and he's always running on the trails in our town, so he's become a familiar face to most (the long curly hair doesn't hurt either). He was in the paper after he won the last race and just last weekend we were at Starbucks (not a big shock for those of you who know us well) and the woman at the register recognized Kyle from the paper - so he's a bit of a local celeb! At one of the earlier races a producer for a local cable channel asked him to participate in a documentary he was doing on running in Highlands Ranch. He interviewed Kyle on more than one occasion and even filmed him running with Bronco & Izzy. We just watched it for the first time tonight and it's great - Kyle & the kids are so photogenic!

We've really enjoyed the Series and we're happy to see that they've already put up the schedule for next year. To date, I've preferred to be a spectator (the dogs and I cheer Kyle on and enjoy talking to our fellow HR residents), but next year there are two triathlons in the series so Kyle can sit those out and he and the dogs can cheer me on instead!
