Today Kyle and I, with Ron's help, reached our next basement milestone - we hung all of the frames that we have been building for the past two and half months. It didn't actually take very long, at least compared to the plumbing project. Next task is to figure out what the heck we are going to do with the bathroom - there are so many ducts and drain pipes in the ceiling, we don't really know how we are going to hang any frames in there. But we'll deal with that tomorrow - for now, we're going to finishing watching Texas Tech beat Oklahoma (will another top 5 team get beat?!) Framing pictures begin at picture 15 - see pics here

We just can’t sit still I guess – Kyle and I decided to tackle the biggest project in our house, which is finishing our basement. I’m not sure what possessed us to do it now, but now is as good a time as any I suppose! We spent a lot of time planning the space, and have decided to put Kyle’s office, a small living area, a bedroom and a ¾ bath down there (we also saved some space for storage). We’ll have about 500 finished sq. ft, and 100 sq. ft of storage. When all is said and done, we’ll have a nice little Boston-sized apartment down there for our visitors!

Watching me compete in a triathlon wasn’t the only reason mom and dad were in CO last week – for their “vacation”, they agreed to come help Kyle & I tile our kitchen floor (I know, that doesn’t sound like much of a vacation). It was my suggestion, so I’ll take all of the blame for dad’s sore knees and back, but Kyle and I really wanted to learn how to tile and who better to teach us than the expert. I will admit, it was a bigger, tougher project than we had imagined it would be (putting down the cement backerboard was a real pain), but we all worked hard to get it done and it looks just beautiful. Dad is probably still on pain pills, mom is likely having nightmares about sponges flying at her head and my blisters haven’t healed from grouting yet, but I’m sure we’ll all forget the pain any day now! Seriously, though, I want to give a great big thank you to my parents for helping us with this project during their visit– we could not have done it without them and as hard as it was, we really enjoyed working on it together. Also, we'd like to give a big thank you to Ron & Michele Gorr, K, & Chad for donating their tools to us.

Hi everyone,
Sorry for not blogging in quite some time. We are making up for our absense with a spiffy new website design and also the start of posting new and old photos.
The first batch of pics we have uploaded is our "fun" weekend of painting our kitchen cabinets. We worked till midnight for many nites and were exhausted from sanding, priming and painting, but the end result is incredible. Amazing what less than $200 and some elbow grease will do to your kitchen. You can find the pictures here.
I hope you like the new website design as well. I fully expect that I will be updating the look of this site every 6 - 9 months. I just get bored.
